Donald Haskett Reunion

A group of Heights alumni are putting together a dinner honoring Don Haskett, a science teacher at Heights from 1968-1988. Mr. Haskett taught biology and ecology and led field trips to many of the national parks in the U.S. that served as outdoor classrooms. For more information, you can read a recent article posted on the District website.

The dinner will be at Valenti's Restaurant on Richmond Road near Chagrin Boulevard on Saturday, June 15th, with an informal gathering starting at 4:30, ordering dinner at 5:00. Alma Mater Scholarship Program

Heights alumni are proud of their high school alma mater, as well as their college alma mater. With this in mind, the Cleveland Heights High School Alumni Foundation ispleased to announce a new scholarship program. Heights alumni can support studentsattending their college alma mater, by donating to a scholarship awarded to a student who plans on attending the same college as they did.

While our goal is a scholarship specific to each school listed below, at this time we are setting up our Alma Mater Scholarship based on three regions: Ohio, East of Ohio and West of Ohio. Once we have enough contributions earmarked for a specific college, we will then create a scholarship unique to that school. When sending in your contribution, be sure to note which school(s) your donation is for.

Clair McElfresh Scholarship Fund

A group of alumni are excited about creating a scholarship fund in honor of vocal music teacher, Dr. Clair T. McElfresh, otherwise known as “Mac”. Mac directed the Heights High Men’s Chorus and Girls’ Glee Club in the early to mid-60s, and from ‘66 until 1973, the Cleveland Heights High School Choir.

They are seeking all Heights High Choir, Glee Club, and Men’s Chorus alumni who want to thank Clair McElfresh (Mac) for the great example he set in terms of musicianship, showmanship, and character. To learn more about Mac’s Scholarship, go to www.mac-scholarship.wikispaces.com.

Mmmmm, Pancakes!
17th Scholarship Pancake Breakfast

Slightly overcast and a chill in the air were perfect for the Black & Gold, with almost 500 guests attending the Cleveland Heights High School Alumni Foundation's 17th Annual Scholarship Pancake Breakfast on April 14th. Attendees enjoyed the all you can eat pancakes prepared by Chris Cakes, orange juice from Whole Foods Market and coffee prepared by Restless Coffee. Volunteers from the CH-UH Library helped staff the serving line while students gave tours off Heights High. Winners of the iPods and iPad Mini raffles went home very happy!
