Every spring the Cleveland Heights High School Alumni Foundation awards scholarships to graduating seniors. The funds for these scholarships come from the proceeds of the Foundation's Pancake Breakfast held in the spring, the Holiday Cocktail Party held in December, and the generous donations from Heights High graduates. The Foundation currently awards the following scholarships: |
Bertram “Bart” Wolstein
Entrepreneurial
 
Bertram “Bart” Wolstein was a ‘45 Heights High graduate and an inductee into the Cleveland Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. Mr. Wolstein is known for his success in the real estate industry, exemplified in two companies he founded, Developers Diversified and Heritage Development. Mr. Wolstein and his wife Iris, Class of '47, are also known for their philanthropic work throughout greater Cleveland.
This scholarship is awarded in memory of Mr. Wolstein to a graduating college bound senior intending to major in business, finance or economics, the applicant must submit a teacher's recommendation as well as a written essay on the topic listed on the application.

John Idris Benjamin Memorial Scholarship

The John Idris Benjamin Memorial Scholarship is offered by his daughter Diane Benjamin-Jones as a tribute to her father in recognition of his greatest gift to her life, a lifetime filled with sounds of beautiful and traditional Welsh music.
The scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who can demonstrate financial need. The applicant must have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher and planning to attend college in the fall.
The applicant must have an emphasis on music or music education in pursuit of a Fine Arts Degree. This scholarship is paid directly to the university or college. |

Career Prep
 
Awarded to a graduating senior with a grade point average of 3.0 or better in Career Prep courses taken. The applicant must submit an essay about future career plans, a recommendation from one Career Prep teacher and one academic teacher, and have completed at least three credit hours in the Career Prep department by graduation.

James Cipolletti Future Educator
 
James “Jim” Cipolletti is a former administrator in the Heights School system. Mr. Cipolletti earned his B.A. at John Carroll University before receiving his Masters at Kent State University. After 11 years in the Cleveland Public Schools, Mr. Cipolletti became principal at Wiley Middle School, a role he held for twenty years. Mr. Cipolletti was then tapped to be Administrative Principal at Heights High, a position that he held for five years before retiring.
Awarded to a graduating college bound senior intending to become an educator, the applicant must submit a teacher's recommendation as well as a written essay on the topic listed on the application.

Foundation Community Award

Awarded only in 2002, this award was given to graduating Heights High seniors who, in addition to a strong history of academic success and commitment to Heights High, also displayed outstanding commitment to the broader Cleveland Heights-University Heights community.

Kevin Fahey Memorial

Awarded to a graduating senior active in instrumental music, vocal music and drama, it is in memory of Kevin Fahey, Class of '77. Before a successful career in advertising and Yale University, Kevin was Drum Major for the marching band, played saxophone and bassoon in other bands, sang with the Heights Singers and participated in numerous theater productions inside and outside of Heights High.
Applicants submit an essay describing how the performing arts have played a significant role in their life along with teacher recommendations.

Judith Glickson Creative Writing
 
This award is in memory of Judith Glickson, a ‘47 Heights High graduate, a member of the Cleveland Heights High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame, and a member of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School Board. Prior to her death, she had begun work on the creation of the Cleveland Heights High School Alumni Association.
Awarded to a graduating senior, the applicant must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and be planning to attend college in the fall. The applicant must submit a creative writing essay, which is defined as an original, innovative and imaginative work of fiction or poetry, and letters of recommendation from his/her English teacher and a teacher outside of the English department.

The recipient must be a student at Cleveland Heights High School for at least two years and have at least one parent who is a graduate of Heights High. Marian Katz Magid Memorial

A passionate supporter of public education, Marian graduated from Heights in ‘53. She and her family moved to Berkeley, California in 1967 so that her children would be part of the new busing system to integrate the public schools. She represented the Oakland Public Schools and Contra Costa County Office of Education for 10 years each and worked as a consultant to the Berkeley Unified School District after her retirement. She continued her community work through Rotary, Hadassah and the Kennedy King Scholarship program.
Marian Katz Magid Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior with a grade point average of 3.0 or better and planning on attending college in the fall. The student must submit a creative writing essay, which is defined as an original, innovative and imaginative work of fiction or poetry, and letters of recommendation from their English teacher as well as a teacher outside of the English department.

Yoda-Newton "Share the Love"
  
The Yoda-Newton "Share the Love" Scholarship was established in 2006 to help students who have faced adversity or have taken the initiative to volunteer their time to help others in need. Up to four $2,000 scholarships areawarded to college bound seniors annually and are renewable for another three years provided the student meets certain criteria.

Tiger
 
Awarded to a graduating senior who is continuing their post high school studies. The student must have completed three years at Cleveland Heights High School, have no FA's, (failure due to absence) during their junior year or first semester of senior year, have a grade point average of between 2.0 and 2.5, and submit an essay on a topic listed on the application.
